Our Origin Story
Two Matriarchs, Two Sons, One New Restaurant
The cafe’s name and identity honor Sharon Benton and Sharon Oldham, alongside sons Darrell Benton and Houston Oldham, whose families have shaped East Tennessee food and hospitality in distinct but deeply connected ways.
Like many family businesses, both operations have often been represented publicly by the fathers and sons who carried the names forward. But the mothers were never on the sidelines. Their care, standards, creativity, and influence have been critical to the success of both families’ work. With Sharons’ Half Day Cafe, the next generation is proud to help bring that influence into the foreground, honoring two remarkable women whose legacy has always been at the heart of the hospitality.

From the Sharons
"We’re keeping things simple: make the food well, treat people kindly, keep the coffee hot, and never underestimate what a good biscuit can do."
